Recruitment & Selection

Recruitment & Selection

Guidelines relating to the interviewing and selection process have been developed to assist managers and supervisors who have hiring responsibility.

These procedures ensure equality of employment opportunity and contribute to a positive image of the College in the community. Using these guidelines will help you find and hire the most qualified and suitable candidate for a particular job. These guidelines also demonstrate the College’s commitment to the principles contained in the Ontario Human Rights Code, ensuring that employment decisions are based solely on criteria relating to the applicant’s ability to do the job. The College’s rights and obligations contained in the Collective Agreements for Academic and Support Staff employees and Terms and Conditions of Employment for Administrative Staff are also reflected in these interviewing/selection guidelines.

Hiring a new employee is one of the most significant investments we can make as managers. Following a systemic approach to recruitment and selection will ensure that we attract and hire the most qualified, suitable and potentially successful Algonquin College employees.
