Anne-Marie Hamel, Professor

Anne-Marie Hamel is an Interior Decorator and Adult Educator, living in Ottawa, Ontario. She is a graduate of the 3-year Interior Design FIDER-accredited diploma program from Dawson College. Her passion for interior decorating landed her a position working for a high-end decorating company in Montréal, where she spent the first five years of her professional career. In 2004, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her own small interior decorating business. As part of her professional development plan and desire to create careful planning for her business, she decided to take Algonquin College’s 2-year Small and Medium Enterprise diploma program. During her time at Algonquin College, Anne-Marie became involved with the Interior Decorating program, first as a teacher’s assistant and, now, as part-time instructor. This new found love for teaching adults has enriched her life. She is committed to helping each student achieve their academic and career goals. She continues to operate her business while incorporating her love for teaching into her career.
